This is the final week of the first quarter.  Students will be taking quarter assessments this week.  Tuesday is the reading assessment, Wednesday is math and Thursday is science for fifth grade.  We will do some catching up and reviewing the first part of this week.  Fifth grade will be working on a STEM project about thermal energy.  They are challenged to build a model of a house that is as energy efficient as possible.  It needs to keep thermal energy inside for winter and keep thermal energy out for summer.  We'll be using a thermal imaging camera to test their models.  Forth grade will also be working on a STEM project.  They will be creating a stop motion video of the moon's phases.

I will not be giving homework this week.  I will be calculating Daily Word Problem extra credit for the first quarter.  Parent teacher conferences are Monday, October 30th.  Click here to see conferences we have scheduled so far and available times left.  Tuesday is Halloween.  We will not have a Halloween party.  But if you would like to send treats for the class, we will be glad to share them.  Students can dress up, BUT they must dress as a character from a book.
